Plate of Wander


ellis has four main passions: travel, food, writing, and film. Plate of Wander fuses all but the latter. ellis, a Wellesley grad, fell in love with China after studying in Beijing and Shanghai. In 2008 she moved to Huzhou, Zhejiang province, where she taught college English, traveled China, and ate enough food to feed two or three grown men. She speaks proficient Mandarin and has played unofficial tour guide and translator for a number of foreigners in China. In addition to traveling to Tibet, Xinjiang, and nine other provinces in China, ellis has traveled to South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, Italy, and Costa Rica.
